The transition into motherhood is exhilarating, rewarding AND exhausting. Post –Natal yoga classes are designed to give the new mother the tools she needs to stay healthy and positive during the challenging first months after having her new baby. Moms have the option of either bringing their babies to class or taking class alone. Some of the things we work on during class are:

Over 5000 years old, yoga is the ancient art of bringing the mind, body and spirit into balance. The benefits to the pregnant woman and her unborn child are tremendous. Below are just a few of the ways yoga can help enrich your pregnancy and your journey into motherhood.
Helps to relieve some of the discomforts associated with pregnancy such as sciatica, lower back pain, nausea and fatigue. Improves circulation and digestion helping to reduce the likelihood of varicose veins and constipation.
Gently assists the body with asanas (physical postures) designed to open the areas of the body that are used when birthing your baby.
Teaches you to move within and trust your ability to birth your baby without fear and dependency on others.
Gives you the skills to relax, using visualization and breath-work. This allows you to trust and surrender into yourself resulting in a more positive and oftentimes shorter labor.
It is beneficial to begin classes early in your pregnancy. Learning to relax and use breathing techniques takes time. It must be practiced and integrated into your daily life. When the body is stressed-relaxation breathing needs to be automatic. Classes cover yoga positions that can also be used in labor and delivery. Sometimes, by simply changing your position you can jumpstart a stalled labor preventing the need for medical intervention.
